ESB Networks are issuing a safety warning following a number of recent thefts of overhead lines from between poles on the live electricity network.

There are ongoing Garda investigations into the criminal activity and ESB Networks are co-operating with the investigations.

ESB Networks are warning the perpetrators that this is very dangerous activity with potentially fatal consequences.

Interference with the power network creates a serious risk to the general public and causes inconvenience to customers by interrupting their electricity supply.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact An Garda Síochána and ESB Networks on 1850 372 999 as a matter of urgency.
