Some 32 industrial and warehousing building projects are currently active around the country, despite the high vacancy levels in these type of properties.
The work totalling almost €600 million is significantly lower than the same period last year, when 167 projects were completed worth an estimated €1.2bn.
Approximately 1.22m square metres of industrial space is vacant in Dublin, according to a report by the Irish Independent.
It is understood that most of the new construction is being driven by the food sector, which requires specialist premises.
