Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has officially opened a new £1.2m family social housing scheme at Loughview Terrace, North Belfast.
The development of five townhouses and four apartments, one of which has been designed for wheelchair use, was provided by Grove Housing Association with part funding from the Northern Ireland Executive through the Department for Social Development.
Minister McCausland said: "I am pleased to officially open this new social housing development at this prominent location which borders the Shore Road and Skegoneill Avenue. These new homes are a welcome sight on what was previously a longstanding derelict site that blighted this main arterial route.
"Grove Housing Association is to be congratulated for having had the foresight to purchase this vacant land and return it to beneficial use. These new homes will have a positive effect on the local infrastructure.
"They will take nine families from the housing waiting list in an area which continues to have high housing need and serve this community well for many years to come."
