Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a £335,000 major resurfacing scheme on a section of the B49 Longland Road, Donemana, the main Donemana to Claudy road.
Improvements to a 2,790metre section of the B49 Longland Road, commenced on 21 March from Longland Road, Bonds Glen Road junction through Liscloon to the Crumlin Bridge on the Longland Road.
Mr Kennedy said: "The scheme will strengthen and improve the quality of the carriageway on this section of the B49 Longland Road which serves the area surrounding Donemana and is also a main link through to the A5 Victoria Road and the A6 Glenshane Road."
Due to the restricted carriageway width available on the B49 Longland Road, and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and through traffic, it will be necessary to close the section of the road. A 23 day closure is planned to commence on Friday 21 March 2014. The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on Sunday 13 April 2014.
Traffic will be diverted via B48 Lisnaragh Road and the C603 Ballynacross Road. Local access will be retained.
