Two Nursing Homes To Be Upgraded

Fine Gael Roscommon/South Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan, has welcomed a total allocation of €400,000 in HSE funding for the upgrade of two nursing homes in Co. Roscommon.

Mr Feighan said: "The Plunkett Nursing Home in Boyle is to receive €300,000 while Áras Mháthair Phóil in Castlerea is to be allocated €100,000. I am delighted that the HSE has approved this funding under the Minor Capital Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Compliance Works 2014.

"The two nursing homes have provided quality care to elderly people for many years and these funding allocations will now allow both to complete works to ensure they are fully compliant with new HIQA standards to be introduced in 2015.

"I am glad to have been able to assist and work on behalf of the two nursing homes in securing this hugely important funding. It will enable them to not only keep up, but keep ahead, of the new HIQA regulations.

"Meanwhile, the compliance works required for the Sacred Heart Home in Roscommon town is of a more major nature than the other two nursing homes and therefore does not fall under the Minor Capital HIQA scheme."
