NI Planning Performance Improves

Planning performance in Northern Ireland is improving, according to statistics.

92% of Large Scale Planning Applications have been dealt within 6 months. which exceed the 75% target.

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "A key priority when I took Office was to speed up planning. It is welcome that this is happening. Turnaround times for planning applications are improving. Speedier, fairer planning decisions will help deliver a better environment and stronger economy.

"I am optimistic that this positive trend will continue when the majority of planning functions will transfer to local councils next April."
