€3 million funding has been announced for the ongoing maintenance and development of piers and harbours in Ireland.
Repair work is to be carried out on Blackrock Harbour, Glengarriff Pier, Baltimore Pontoon, Adrigole Pier, Durrus Pier, Passage Pontoon and Ballycotton Pontoon in Cork.
Fine Gael Cork South West, TD, Noel Harrington welcomed the funding and said it will also help boost marine and leisure tourism.
Mr Harrington said: "The funding announcement comes on top of a grant in February for the repair of piers and harbours around the country that were so badly damaged during the storms last winter.
"The funding announced comes from the 2014 Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Capital Programme of the Department of Agriculture and the Marine. Local Authorities will also contribute to the cost of the projects."
