Irish water has approved works to replace a water main at North Quay in Drogheda.
Louth County Council said the scheme will comprise the laying of 287m of water main, from the junction of Shop Street to the junction of Constitution Hill.
The project will cost around €129,000 to complete.
The scheme has been initiated as a result of the on-going occurrences of bursts on this main. The bursts appear to be caused by large pressure fluctuations in the main over the course of the day. Pressure restrictions to seek to reduce the risk of such occurrences have caused low water pressure further down the line and can affect up to 10,000 people on a daily basis.
The works will be completed in the final quarter of 2014.
