Tens of thousands of new homes are needed to meet demand, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has stated.
The institute has produced its executive summary, in which it says that the largest number of homes are needed in the Greater Dublin area.
The summary's author, Dr Edgar Morenroth, estimates that some 54,000 extra housing units will be needed in Dublin between now and 2021, with upwards of 90,000 homes needed overall within seven years.
The Executive Summary is available in full on the ESRI website.
