A consultation event on proposals for developer contributions was held today, Wednesday 10th September, at the Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick.
Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland and Environment Minister, Mark H Durkan, attended and hosted the event.
The event was attended by around 100 delegates including private developers, planning consultants and housing associations.
The proposals would require developers to provide a proportion of newly proposed housing developments as affordable housing. A public consultation on the proposals is currently running until 23 September 2014.
Mr McCausland said: "I am committed to delivering housing to match unmet need in Northern Ireland. This consultation presents an excellent opportunity to explore the potential for developer contributions to provide much-needed affordable housing.
"his event will be useful for my Department and the Department of the Environment to hear directly from those who would be involved in the implementation of this policy and to help inform our thinking on this issue."
