McCausland Accused Of 'Massaging' Housing Figures

Housing Minister Nelson McCausland is being accused of continuing to 'massage' housing figures to suit his narrative on waiting lists.

SDLP Social Development spokesperson, Dolores Kelly MLA, said the Minister has issued misleading statistics on the relative housing waiting list for Catholics and Protestants.

She said: "In response to an Assembly Question I asked calling for a detailed breakdown of the waiting list figures and average waiting times in Belfast the Minister has release vague, distorted data.

"Clearly he hasn't learned his lesson from the catalogue of failures that has marked his time as Housing Minister. But what more can we expect from a Minister who was found to have deliberately misled his statutory scrutiny committee?

"The figures which he has supplied are, in parts, almost totally incomprehensible."
