South Dublin County Council (SDCC) has agreed to cut the property tax rate by 15%, by a margin of 36 to 1.
Fine Gael Dublin South West bye-election candidate, Senator Cáit Keane, said she was pleased to see that Councillors voted to reduce the property tax.
She said: "This will save residents of this area anywhere between €60 and €100 next year.
"This reduction is possible because 80% of the property tax collected remains in the county. Taking this into consideration, along with today’s 15% reduction afforded to homeowners, it’s worth noting that South Dublin County Council still has a surplus of €1.6 million in the coffers, ensuring the standard of services delivered by the Council remain high."
