Sinn Féin is calling for inadequate street lighting in the Mount Eagles area in west Belfast to be addressed immediately.

MLA Jennifer McCann said lives are being put at risk and has written to Minister Danny Kennedy to resolve to situation.

She said: "Residents in the Mount Eagles area have been left without street lighting for a week now. This is a causing a serious problem for residents who are unable to go about their business as we move into the darker evenings and mornings.

"Lives are being put at risk in this area because of the lack of street lighting. It is totally unacceptable that residents are being put in danger because Danny Kennedy said he can't pay for maintenance works because he can't manage his budget."
