The Labour party is calling on Dublin City Council to use St. Bricin's Military Hospital in Arbour Hill as temporary accommodation for the homeless.
The hospital is currently empty and unused.
Robert Dowds TD said: "If the facility was opened up, it might help avert another tragedy like the one that befell Jonathan Corrie.
"I have been contacted by former members of the Defence Forces about St. Bricin's and they believe that it could be easily adapted for emergency homeless accommodation.
"Obviously, this isn't a perfect solution, but given the scale of the crisis we are facing, I think this option should at least be looked at."
