Kennedy Confirms Comber Greenway Will Not Be Sold

Northern Ireland's Minister for Regional Development has confirmed that no part of the Comber Greenway is to be sold off.

Danny Kennedy made the commitment in response to an Assembly question and also reiterated this in a response to Alliance MLA, Kieran McCarthy.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: "I had been contacted by a number of local people in recent weeks over their fears that the erection of a fence alongside part of the Greenway was part of a 'land grab' or was an indication that part of the embankment had been earmarked for sale.

"While the Minister has given this commitment, I do still have concerns regarding the accuracy of Departmental records of the boundary associated with this fencing and I will continue to liaise with DRD to ensure the Comber Greenway is maintained and enhanced."
