Seán Crowe TD and Amina J. Mohammad of Nigeria said while progress has been made on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), there is still a long way to go to seriously tackle poverty, inequality, and climate change.

Mr Crowe said: "I explained to Ms Mohammad that I believe a post-2015 framework should be rights based, tackle inequality as well poverty, focus on ending discrimination, and increasing efforts to mitigate climate change.
"I welcome that Ireland is a co-facilitator of these discussions at the UN level and I call on them to use this prestigious role to ensure a post-2015 framework is based on these sustainable development objectives."
