West Street In Carrickfergus To Be Revitalised

Funding has been announced for a revitalisation scheme in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland.

£50,000 is being use to improve West Street in the town centre.

Social Development Minister, Mervyn Storey, welcomed the scheme.

He said: "Over the past two years my Department has invested some £2million in a major Public Realm scheme and targeted Revitalisation projects in Carrickfergus town centre.

"This latest project is aimed at enhancing West Street; a gateway area of the town which has been declining for some time with a significant number of properties in a derelict state.

"This funding will help to improve the overall shopping and visitor experience to this area and the wider town of Carrickfergus. My Department will continue to work in support of Carrickfergus Borough Council who will deliver the project in conjunction with traders and local representatives."
