Transport NI is to begin building a new riverfront wall along the Culmore Point in L'Derry.

SDLP Derry Councillor Angela Dobbins welcomed the news and said the work is scheduled to start in June.

She added: "The wall was damaged years ago and railings were erected as a temporary measure. At high tides the water overflows onto the road and limiting access.

"Assurances have been given that every effort will be made to have the replacement wall area to match the existing one."
