Gates To Be Erected At Shantallow Underpass

A notice stating an intention to permit the erection of gates at the Madam's Bank Road underpass in L'Derry has been supported by the Council.

SDLP Shantallow Councillor Brian Tierney welcomed the support and is calling on local housing associations to do the same, "sooner rather than later".

Cllr Tierney said: "I have no doubt that gating off the tunnel will help curb the anti-social activity of large numbers of young people who regularly descend on the underpass.

"I have worked closely with residents, Derry City Council and housing associations in recent months to have this area secured so that local residents do not have to suffer any longer."
