£130,000 additional funding has been secured to revitalise Glengormley town centre in Northern Ireland.
Social Development Minister, Mervun Storey MLA, said it capitalises on the success of a revitalisation scheme back in 2013 which saw traders in Glengormley use an initial grant of £150,000 to great effect.
He said: "Given the importance of small businesses in Glengormley, I was delighted to approve additional funding to further support local traders and property owners to carry out a broad range of external improvements to shop fronts and gable walls.
"One of the key benefits of the schemes is the partnership arrangements put into place through Newtownabbey Borough Council and by representatives from the Glengormley Chamber and Traders Association. It is crucial that these arrangements are maintained and strengthened, particularly as the new Council will be responsible for regeneration powers and budgets that will be transferred from the Department in April 2016."
