Plans Proposed To Develop Retirement Village In Thornhill

A planning proposal is to be submitted to develop a retirement village at the former Thornhill College site in L'Derry.

SDLP Councillor Angela Dobbins welcomed the plans.

She said: "The proposed plans to incorporate a palliative care facility with assisted and independent units for retired residents may be ambitious but will compliment this area.

"A retirement village is a model which is used throughout the country with long waiting lists of interested tenants. Retirement villages such as Elmgrove and Thorndale are success stories in the Ballyarnett ward and the plans for Thornhill will make a welcome addition."
