Community groups in Meath are being encouraged to apply for funding to upgrade their energy systems under the Better Energy Communities programme.
Administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI), €13m is now available for the upgrade of residential, public and community buildings around Ireland.
Fine Gael Meath West TD, Ray Butler, said many organisations in Meath benefited from the funding last year.
Mr Butler said: "The North and East Housing Association led a project which involved energy upgrades of 22 houses in Seaview Grove, Laytown. In Trim, Retrofit Energy Ireland led a project which upgraded 78 homes.
"Sustainable energy is in everyone's interest. It is good for the environment and also helps businesses keep costs down."
