Concerns Raised Over Paramilitary Flags At New Housing Development

The Alliance party has expressed concerns over paramilitary flags and emblems at a new housing development in Carryduff in south Belfast.

UVF flags have been put up around the development which is not yet complete.

The Irish News has reported that OakleeTrinity, the Housing Association responsible for the development, has pledged to investigate who put up the flags and symbols.

Alliance South Belfast Councillor Paula Bradshaw said: "The use of paramilitary flags and symbols is completely unacceptable and just an attempt to intimidate local people.

"We must ensure that this housing development is open to all. I want to see all housing being treated as mixed and would urge all sides to stand together to ensure people from all backgrounds are able to live in this development."
