A public inquiry is to be held over plans for the York Street Interchange in Belfast.
The scheme is expected to cost around £125million to £165million.
The announcement follows the completion of the Formal Consultation process into the Draft Statutory Orders which ended on 10 March.
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: "This proposal for the York Street Interchange is one of the most significant engineering challenges in Northern Ireland. Within a very tightly constrained urban footprint, we plan to provide direct links between our three busiest roads, the Westlink, the M2 and the M3."
The Public Inquiry is to be scheduled for the late autumn 2015.
