Jobs in the construction industry will be given a boost after it was announced schools across Northern Ireland are to benefit from a £40m investment under the Department of Education's minor works scheme.
Minor works are projects ranging from minor repairs to more significant work projects and extensions. Investment since December includes over £708,000 to rewire Knocknagoney Primary School and provide new play equipment; £124,000 for electrical work and traffic solution at Hazelwood Integrated Primary School; and £380,000 to rewire Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School.
Education Minister John O'Dowd said: "The completion of all of these works will ultimately provide better facilities for our children and young people to learn in and an improved working environment for teachers and other school staff. This ongoing significant investment also provides a boost to our local construction industry, helping to sustain jobs."
