€30,000 in funding has been secured for refurbishment works to be carried out at Pearse House in Dublin.
The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, said: "A once-off grant of €30,000 is being provided for decorative and refurbishment works to Pearse House to prepare it for commemorative events due to take place in 2016. This funding will provide the Ireland Institute for Historical and Cultural Studies, which runs the House, with essential investment for the upkeep of the historic building in advance of the centenary of the Rising."
The Minister also confirmed another €5,000 in funding has been allocated for a photography exhibition at Pearse House which aims to broaden the public's understanding of the 1916 Rising, and support the centre's educational outreach work.
