Plans for future development at the Braun site in Carlow have been discussed by IDA Ireland and the private developer who purchased the site, the Minister for Jobs, Enetrprise and Innovation has confirmed.
Fine Gael Carlow TD, Pat Deering, welcomed the news from Minister Richard Bruton.
Mr Deering said: "I am informed that IDA will be in a position to actively market the site once minor upgrade works are completed in the next couple of months. In the meantime, IDA Ireland has provided information on the facility to a number of potential clients, who are currently assessing Ireland as an investment location.
"The development of this site would be a massive boost for Carlow. Since the launch of the Government's Action Plan for Jobs in 2012, the Live Register in Carlow has decreased by 17.5%. We must keep this progress going and ensure that the economic recovery is felt by all.
"The Government has a plan to ensure that by 2018, all of the jobs lost in the crash will be replaced. The development of the old Braun site in Carlow is just one example of how we can do this county by county, throughout all four corners of Ireland."
