Richmond Barracks in Inchicore are to be restored following a major investment.

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Críona Ní Dhálaigh has welcomed the announcement.

She said: "It is an integral part of a larger historical trail. Tourists are attracted to the Inchicore area by the Guinness Storehouse as well as Kilmainham Gaol.

"The development of Richmond Barracks would give tourists a reason to come to Inchicore, go to the visitors centre and spend time at this community driven project."
