A planning application has been submitted for the development of the North-South 400kV Interconnection.
EirGrid submitted the application to An Bord Pleanála.
The North-South 400kV Interconnection Development is part of across-border electricity interconnector scheme being proposed by EirGrid and System Operator for Northern Ireland (SONI).
A ten-week period of statutory public consultation will start on Tuesday 16 June, one week after the date of submission. The application documentation, including the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS).
The proposed development has been deemed “strategic infrastructure” and comprises a new 400kV overhead transmission line in counties Monaghan, Cavan and Meath.
