Construction work to develop a new school in Letterkenny has been brought forward.

The school, for Letterkenny Education Together, is to be built on the former site of Unifi.

Construction work is expected to start in November 2015 and be completed by September 2016.

Fianna Fáil TD Charlie McConalogue has praised the dedication of parents, staff and students at the school.

He said: "Despite operating out of prefabs, the school has expanded rapidly and I am delighted that a new site has been formally approved.

"There is no doubt that it was the determination and persistence of the staff, parents and students which has secured the fast-tracking of the project."
