Work on a £300,000 watermains improvement programme has started in Hillsborough, County Down.
The investment is part of an overall £2,544,000 investment in the wider Lisburn, Dromore, Banbridge and Newry areas.
The extent of the work is along Lisburn Road and Lisburn Street between the roundabout at the A1 dual carriageway and Ballynahinch Street. The first phase of work will get underway at the Carnreagh Road junction, moving along the Lisburn Road in sections towards the Ballynahinch Street junction. The overall programme of work will be completed at the end of August 2015.
Traffic management and signage will be in place in all areas as necessary to inform the public in advance of the work. Where possible, NI Water will use state-of-the-art 'no dig' technology, which reduces the need for large open trenches in the road.
