Over 40 Applications Received In 2015 Atlantic Margin Round

A total of 43 applications have been received in the 2015 Atlantic Margin Round.

The Minister of State and Natural Resources, Joe McHugh, TD said this is the "largest number" received in a licensing round held in the Irish offshore.

He said: "The applicant companies include majors, mid-cap companies and smaller companies. The response to the licensing round is a further positive signal of the building momentum in oil and gas exploration offshore Ireland."

Evaluation of the applications will commence, with decisions on the award of exploration authorisations to be made in the coming months.
