Residents have been told to pay €4 million so that remedial works can be carried out at the Longboat Quay development in Dublin.
Sinn Féin councillor for the Pembroke-South Dock area Chris Andrews said it is "entirely unrealistic" to ask residents and is calling for an immediate intervention from all of the stakeholders to find a solution to the problems identified.
Cllr Andrews said: "The Longboat Quay development has significant problems and solutions have to be found urgently to address the issues that have been identified relating to sub-standard adherence to fire safety regulations.
"There have been serious question marks raised in relation to building standards in much of the Docklands area over the past number of years, particularly in developments that were constructed as social and affordable housing, which the Longboat Quay development contains a sizeable number of."
