Refurb Work On School Swimming Pool Complete

Refurbishment work on a swimming pool at a school in Co Tyrone is now complete.

Graham Structural Solutions carried out the work on the pool at Fivemiletown College and it was officially opened by Dame Mary Peters.

The pool was originally opened in 1976 by Dame Mary Peters and was built by sixth form pupils from a pre-apprenticeship class with the help of staff and school bus drivers. It was constructed at the time as an outdoor pool, using hollow core concrete blocks and reinforced steel rods.

The most recent refurbishment inside and outside includes new anti-slip tiles and additional sports facilities for the school and local community.

The youth annexe and sports facilities will be used after school until 10pm, at weekends and during school holidays.
