Plans to build a new Belfast-based Irish language facility have been welcomed by Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín.
Raidió Fáilte has submitted the proposals to develop 'Líonra Uladh', a broadcast, recording, training and Irish language archive centre, on Divis Street.
The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure is providing £460,000 towards project, which will cost over £1.7 million.
It includes enhanced facilities for visitors and space for nurturing and developing Irish language-based creative and cultural opportunities.
The project is also co-funded by the city council, who are providing £950,000 under the Belfast Investment Fund, and Ciste Infheistíochta Gaeilge who will contribute £375,000.
Culture Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said: "This is an excellent day for the Irish language in Belfast. When completed, this new centre will greatly help Raidió Fáilte to further establish and develop an Irish language facility that will also act as a cultural hub for the entire local community and a catalyst for the regeneration of the surrounding area."
