The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) is to invest £860,000 to improve tenants homes in the Lisburn area in Northern Ireland.
The NIHE recently piloted a project which involved the intallation of new bathrooms and kitchens as well as upgrading the electrics in tenant's homes in Hillhall Park, Hillhall Gardens and Meeting House Lane.
The feedback has been positive and all 75 homes are expected to be completed by May 2016.
Tenants living in Ashmount Gardens have already benefitted from maintenance to the outside of their homes. The homes had their fascia boards and guttering checked and replaced where necessary and new fencing.
The next stage of their homes' upgrade will see new kitchen and bathrooms installed along with an upgrade to the electrics. The work is due to start shortly after Easter.
Gerry Flynn, Director of Landlord Services, recently visited two homes in Hillhall which benefitted from the scheme along with Director of Asset Management, Paul Isherwood.
He said: "The Housing Executive operates a large scale maintenance programme for our properties and this year we will be investing over £100m across Northern Ireland in a range of maintenance schemes.
"I am delighted we are able to make this new style capital investment in our homes as part of our commitment to upgrading the fabric of our properties. The success of the pilot in Hillhall bodes well for the rest of the scheme."
