The DUP has launched a campaign aimed at reducing public littering in Northern Ireland.
The 'Don't Mess with NI' campaign hopes to change the public's attitude towards littering and lift a major financial burden from local councils.
DUP East Belfast candidate Joanne Bunting said: "The DUP wants to keep household taxes low, and helping reduce the cost of cleaning up litter could ensure councils avoid increases in their rates.
"It is right that we look to worldwide best practice when developing policies for Northern Ireland. The clear evidence from the United States is that this campaign not only helped deliver a major shift in public attitudes but also engaged the community in making a real and positive difference to their area."
