Work on an underground cable scheme has begun in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
A team at Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) Networks is carrying out the work which involves installing high voltage underground electricity cables along the Brokerstown Road and Lough Road to connect around 25MW of solar PV farms to a substation in the city.
The first phase of work will affect Brokerstown Road for eight weeks. Diversions will be in place. NIE Networks will also be working on Lough Road for ten weeks with diversions in place via A26 Moira Road and A30 Lisburn Road.
A spokesperson from the firm said: "We apologise for any inconvenience to motorists and residents in the local area and thank them for their patience while our contractors carry out essential cable installation in the area."
The project to connect the solar farms is to be completed by the end of the year.
