Keegan Requests Lease Extension On Homeless Hostel In Dublin

The Chief Executive of Dublin City Council has requested an extension on the lease of a homeless hostel in the area.

Mr Owen Keegan has written to the board of the Digital Hub, where Brú Aimsir is based, and asked for the contract to be extended for another 12 months.

Sinn Féin TD for Dublin Mid-West Eoin Ó Broin welcomed the intervention.

He said: "I welcome the Minister's view that it is not acceptable for people to be sleeping rough while at the same time sheltered accommodation facilities are being wound down.

"I share his judgment that if Brú Aimsir was taken out of hostel accommodation, it would result in people being forced to sleep on the streets who otherwise would not be there."
