Over 2,100 children in Ireland are homeless, according to Sinn Féin.
TD for Dublin North West Dessie Ellis confirmed 2,121 are sleeping in emergency accommodation and is calling on the government to declare a "housing emergency".
Mr Ellis said: "The Minister has promised an Action Plan within 100 days. How many more children will be forced into emergency accommodation by then?
"We need solutions now. The government needs to declare a housing emergency and immediately start funding local authorities so they can acquire more vacant homes for much needed social housing.
"Those in private rented accommodation are struggling with increasing rents. The government needs to introduce rent certainty and give these people some breathing space."
