An engineering, architecture and project management firm has been shortlisted for an RIAI Irish Architecture Award.
PM Group was shortlisted for its design of the Grifols International Logistics Centre in Grange Castle, Dublin.
Over 50 projects throughout Ireland were selected for the shortlist, including Grifols.
John Brophy, Head of Architecture at PM Group said: "The challenge was to deliver a unified facility design which accommodated diverse operating activities such as warehousing of intermediate and finished products; labelling, packaging, and high end office facilities. We wanted to ensure that the building complemented the surrounding environment while at the same time designing a building that manages its scale and setting along the Griffeen River tributary.
"The project was a truly collaborative undertaking with our Client. Grifols wanted to bring a project delivery model they had used in Spain and the USA. In Barcelona, Grifols has a unique in-house design engineering capability. PM group worked with this team to develop the early stage concept and scheme design. Working with the main contractor and specialist sub-contractors we also developed a procurement approach that ensured the material selection and detail design was right first time and avoided a drawn out RFI process."
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 24 June at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.
