FF Pledges To Bring Forward Legislation To Protect Moore Street

Fianna Fáil has pledged to bring forward legislation to protect the Moore Street battlefield site in Dublin.

A High Court decision declared the site a National Monument which came into effect on 20 May.

Minister for Arts and Heritage Heather Humphreys confirmed she would be open to dialogue and would consider a process whereby all parties can work together to move the issue forward.

Fianna Fáil's Éamon Ó Cuív said: "I welcome the fact that Minister Humphreys is open to meeting with myself and my Dáil colleagues from all parties and none, who want to see the issue progressed.

"I believe that the Government should reconsider its plans. I look forward to engaging with the Minister and her officials on how best we can commemorate this important historical area."
