Over £30m Funding Used To Improve Mid And East Antrim Roads

Over £30 million has been invested to improve and upgrade Mid and East Antrim roads in Northern Ireland over the past year, the Infrastructure Minister has confirmed.

Minister Chris Hazzard said a total of £30.59m has been used to improve transport connections and also work on the A8 and A26 roads.

The final stage of a £133m scheme to dual 14.4kilometres of the A8 Belfast to Larne road also opened in December. Work on the £55m A26 dualling between Glarryford Crossroads and Drones Road is continuing to progress well with over half the 7.8 kilometres works now completed.‎

He said: "The recent announcement from the Finance Minster of an additional £28 million for my department is a welcome boost and while it is necessary to prioritise activity, a significant part of this will be used to improve rural roads and roads maintenance."
