Contractor Quinn Automatic has started work on a sewer rehabilitation project in Co L'Derry.
The work, within the City Walls, is estimated to take approximately 10 weeks to complete.
In a statement, NI Water said: "Due to the location of these works, and in order to minimise disruption to businesses, road users and the public some sections of this work will be programmed during night time hours. We will do everything within our means to keep noise levels to a minimum during the late evening and night time work. Where possible the work will be carried out using 'no-dig' trenchless techniques to minimise disruption, although at some locations 'open-dig' will be necessary.
"Detailed traffic management arrangements have been discussed and agreed with Transport NI. In order to carry out the work safely, it will be necessary to have temporary road and lane closures in place at some locations. Where lane closures are in place, two way traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic lights. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times."
