Applications are now open for housing needs assessments in Dublin.

Dublin City Council is to carry out the assessments and Sinn Fein Cllr Noeleen Reilly said it is "vitally important" people on the Housing List fill in the questionnaire.

She said: "I have come across so many families who for one reason or another never received the form back when the last assessment was carried out in 2011 or it got lost in the post and the council then removed them of the housing list.

"Families as long as ten years waiting were then forced to start again.

"I cannot stress the importance of sending this form in.

"The assessment is also an opportunity for the Council to ensure that they have an accurate number of people on the housing waiting list and that all information is up to date."
