An aging water main in Athlone has now been replaced.
Irish Water invested €560,000 to replace 3km of water mains from Wash House Turn to Ballydonagh.
The new water main will reduce interruptions to the water supply for customers in the Creggan, Clonbonny, Fardrum, Ballydonagh and Glenwood areas of the town.
Padraig Farrell, East and Midlands Programmes Specialist at Irish Water said: "The replacement of this aging water mains will ensure that customers will have a more reliable water supply. This project was a priority project for Irish Water to complete due to the number of frequent bursts on the water main. We thank customers for their patience while we worked to complete the project."
