Work Continues On New Reservoir In Co Kilkenny

Work is continuing on a new €1 million water reservoir and network upgrades in the Outrath area in County Kilkenny.

The work is part of the Kilkenny Regional Water Supply Scheme by Irish Water.

The main elements of the project are the construction of a new 275m3 reservoir adjacent to the existing reservoir in the townland of Outrath, chlorine dosing facilities at the reservoir site, and the installation of booster pumps and extension of the water network on the existing reservoir supply line in the townland of Springhill.

The project will provide a minimum of 24 hours storage for the area served from Outrath Reservoir. It will improve network pressures on the Waterford Road and Bennettsbridge Road in Kilkenny and improve disinfection facilities in the townlands of Wallslough, Furzehouse and Kilferagh.

Work is expected to be completed by early 2017.
