The Department of Transport and Kildare County Council have been urged to complete work on the ring road in Clane following concerns from local residents.
Fianna Fail TD, Frank O'Rourke, recently met with residents to discuss the issue and said the number of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) passing through the area is "unacceptable".
He said: "In my view, and in view of many in Clane, we need to take the HGVs out of the town centre. This can be done in stages, the first stage should complete the section between the Dublin road and the Kilcock road. This is only a 400m section and if this was completed, it would significantly alleviate the situation.
"The Government in June approved a proposal to establish a Local Infrastructure Fund of €200m to provide public off-site infrastructure to stimulate an increase in private housing. Providing a ring road, will enable the construction of new houses and also alleviate traffic congestion in towns like Clane. In my view this fund should be used for projects like the Clane ring road."
