A boil water notice issued to Irish Water customers in Galway has been lifted with immediate effect.
The notice was put in place for consumers on the Mid Galway Water Supply Scheme on 18 October due to persistent heavy rainfall which led to a drop in the raw water source. As a result, the plant was unable to produce fully compliant water.
However, following advice from the Health Service Executive, the notice has been lifted.
The long term solution for Mid Galway will be replacing the existing, vulnerable source with the robust Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme.
Irish Water And Galway County Council have apologised for any inconvenience caused.
