Concerns Raised Over Gold Mine Plans In Co Tyrone

Concerns have been raised over plans for a gold mine in Co Tyrone.

A public inquiry is to be held after residents raised concerns about the plans which is to be located only 1,200 meters from the local primary school and GAA ground.

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer said: "In order to address those concerns, last month I asked my party colleague and Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard to consider holding a public inquiry into this important issue.

"I welcome his announcement that he will now hold a public inquiry into this gold mine proposal.

"Hopefully this move by the minister will allow people to get answers to their questions and to voice their concerns."
